Hey, thanks for checking me out
weekdays from 9AM-2PM
on 96.1 WSOX.
A Virginia native, I've been part of the Central Pennsylvania radio scene for over 27 years.
Like Ted Knight from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," it all started at a 5000 watt radio station in southwestern Virginia and went rapidly downhill from there. Among my many duties at that first radio job was "cleaning up" after the station dog. I soon progressed to other stations in Virginia and Pennsylvania, but only had to clean up after some of the people I worked for.
Aside from keeping the transmitter nice and toasty at 96.1 WSOX, I help Fuzzy Summers write many of the commercials that you hear on our stations (usually the ones with grammatical errors and weird background music).
My wife Judy has managed to put up with me for about 36 lon-n-n-g-g-g (her exaggeration, not mine) years, and along the way we replicated two kids, of whom we are very proud and only occasionally confused about.
Our main daughter is a grad student in the U. K. studying some type of exotic English literature...something to do with sci-fi and fantasy and big words. Before all that, she received her B. A. degree in English from Radford University and her M. A. from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, U. K. Let's hear it for student loans!
Our emergency back-up daughter graduated from the University of Richmond with a degree in Bio-Chem last Spring, and is employed as an associate scientist at a laboratory in Virginia's capital city. She's also a certified Paramedic and volunteers with a rescue squad there. She has a strong stomach.
In my spare time, I recover from my workday by watching "Seinfeld" and "Star Trek" re-runs...also "House" and "Bones" while tucked safely away in my La-Z-Boy, but not as much as I used to (doctor's orders: ride that bike). On the weekends, I like to check out yard sales for unwanted electronic doo-dads
My favorite color is plaid. My favorite foods are whatever isn't good for me. My favorite bands are the Beatles and the Who. I also like classic country, but can't stand rap and hip-hop.
