1967 - A film crew recorded The Jimi Hendrix Experience rocking London’s Saville Theatre to promote the band’s next single.

1985 - Foreigner earned a No. 1 hit with their rock anthem, “I Want to Know What Love Is.”

1990 - Bob Dylan was awarded the title Commander of the Order off Arts and Letters by the government of France.

1995 - After Rod Stewart and Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin became the third recipients of the International Artists Award at the American Music Awards.

1996 - Legendary producer Bob Thiele died at the age of 73 in New York. Thiele produced albums by Charles Mingus and Quincy Jones, and was instrumental in discovering such artists as Buddy Holly and Jackie Wilson.

1998 - British Prime Minister Tony Blair conferred the status of knighthood upon Elton John.
